History

As a kid I always have been passionate and amused by what many others would describe as “too complicated things”. I was a Geek, a real one. 30 years ago, a Geek was not a teenager watching Tiktok videos permanently. No, I was proud to be an early programmer, enjoying all kind of new technologies.

Naturally, I studied IT in France and in England just before year 2000. I was still a student when my father created a software editor company dedicated to healthcare. We joined it with my sister as soon as we could ignoring that we would have spent an incredible family adventure for the next 20 years.

Long nights, long weeks and thousands of code lines to achieve the best application known in our domain. It was a very rich experience and appears to become a proper success in France then Europe.

This unusual stressful life in a critical field ended when we finally sold the company. More time for everything and especially for our children but also 20 years late of a “to do list” that was always pushed to “an other day”.

I could describe my whole life of being a “problem solver”.With programming I mastered it at an expert level but with not lot of time for fun things.

It is where 3D print arrived in my life. It was a very satisfying way to create or repair things. The ultimate tool for a problem solver. I was using my Creality CR10S in my basement and with Covid had also opportunity to print protections for everyone. Covid changed many lives and for us we decided to move from north (rainy) France to south (sunny) Portugal.

Life here is so pleasant ! I kept the 3D print as a hobby for years but I had to spent a lot of time on the old house we bought. Electricity, automation, electronic, wifi many new Geek topics. My 3D printer was still used but not at the level it became lately.

3D printing has nothing to compare with a traditional ink printer : everybody with zero IT knowledge can buy, install and use on their own a traditional paper printer. But for 3D print, it is a very technical tool that you spend easily more time to fix, calibrate, tune or repair than printing for real. It remains a technical device that needs some time investment to be able to get nice prints.

My Creality was (again) having troubles and instead of repairing it, I decided to check if there was any improvement I could get or maybe an other model to replace after 5 years of fun.

I discovered Bambu Lab brand that was just selling a new kind of printer supposed to be 5 times faster but moreover with a very high print quality and a very low effort to maintain.

I bought a X1Carbon. It was very expensive but tentation and curiosity were so high, I had to try and see if it was that “magic”. And indeed !

That printer is amazing : capable of multi colors print with a very high reliability, high speed and a print quality that I could never imagine before.

Since years all my friends were telling me that I should sell my prints but the time of prints associated with the low reliability were not compatible with a professional activity. But with that one I could start to imagine it.

In November 2023 I went on a first Christmas market where I realized that my friends were right. Everybody love that articulated dragons snakes or squids I make. I worked on new models with all success and had to print as much as possible to respond to the demand on every Algarve market I made. I bought a first other printer to produce much more than I could ever imagine. All the end of 2023 was dedicated to produce models with shinny colors that kids or adult love. But I was also interested to provide what I learned from the past years and design technical parts for any needs.

Since beginning of 2024 I work 100% on every technical challenge I could find. Car parts you cant find anymore, plumbing covers, Light boxes, photos lithophanies, 3D painting, 3D scanning of person, face, cars. So many new projets arrived that I hardly found the time to communicate on it Instagram or to make that website. Success was instantaneous and I already know that I many others are on them way.

Story to continue.
